Overnight Closures of NB Highway 1

Beginning Wednesday, May 15th from 12:01 a.m. to 4:00 a.m. Northbound Highway 1 will close at Lake Street to allow crews to safely remove the Old High Viaduct. Planned Closure Hours:

Mon - Thurs: 12:01 a.m. - 4:00 a.m.

Fri & Sat: 1:00 a.m. - 5:00 a.m.

Work is expected to continue nightly for approximately 3 weeks.

Planned Closure Hours:

Monday – Thursday: 12:01 a.m. – 4:00 a.m.

Friday and Saturday: 1:00 a.m. – 4:00 a.m.

Demolition Weekend Overview

In order to transfer traffic onto a seismically-safe temporary bypass, Doyle Drive was closed for one weekend, April 27-30, 2012. Crews worked around the clock for 57 hours to demolish the aging roadway and prepare a new route, comprised of the completed high viaduct, battery tunnel, and temporary bypass.
