On April 30, 2012, seismic safety was achieved on Doyle Drive when traffic was transferred to a temporary bypass comprised of the completed southbound High Viaduct, completed southbound Battery Tunnel and at-grade bypass. Between 2012 and 2015, crews completed the northbound High Viaduct and Battery Tunnel, the Main Post Tunnels and the new Girard Road Interchange with a direct connection to the Presidio. On the evening of July 12, 2015, traffic was transferred from the temporary bypass to the final roadway.
Construction will conclude in 2016 following an extensive landscaping and restoration project.
