PHASE I: December 2009 - Early 2012
Traffic on Doyle Drive, Construction Occurring Adjacent to Existing Roadway
During the first phase of construction, Doyle Drive will continue to operate as it does now, while portions of the new Presidio Parkway are built adjacent to the existing highway structures.
The connections between the Golden Gate Bridge and 19th Ave Hwy 1 will remain open. However, this corridor is a construction zone with continually changing conditions, so delays can be expected.
Long-Term Ramp Closures
Two Highway 1 ramps are closed: NB Doyle Drive to SB Park Presidio/Hwy 1 and NB Park Presidio/Hwy 1 to SB Doyle Drive. See
details about the ramp closures.
Weekend Closure of Doyle Drive
In early 2012 there will be a weekend closure of Doyle Drive
to transfer traffic onto a temporary bypass and completed southbound structures.
PHASE II: Early 2012 - 2015
Traffic Transferred onto a Temporary Bypass
In early 2012, traffic will be shifted onto a bypass next to Doyle Drive with five lanes - wider than those on the existing Doyle Drive - and with opposing traffic separated by a median barrier.
Long-Term Ramp Closures
Two Highway 1 ramps are closed: NB Doyle Drive to SB Park Presidio/Hwy 1 and NB Park Presidio/Hwy 1 to SB Doyle Drive. See details about the ramp closures.
Weekend Closure of Doyle Drive
In 2015 there will be a weekend closure of Doyle Drive to transfer traffic from the temporary bypass onto the final Presidio Parkway.
FINAL ALIGNMENT: 2015
Traffic on the Final Presidio Parkway
In 2015, major construction will be complete and traffic will be on the final Presidio Parkway. Final project activities after this will include removal of the temporary detour and landscaping.
